Specifically this drill can be used to access the brain through the skull in procedures such as craniectomies. This drill bit features a spatula like head that is 13.0 mm. It is designed to safely penetrate the bony layer to expose the surgical field that is located below without causing trauma to the delicate brain tissue.

Surgical drills can be utilized in a variety of surgical procedures such as craniotomies in neurosurgery as well as in many different orthopedic procedures. This bit also features some spiral cutting such as in a traditional drill bit.

Cushing Burr 5/8" (16.0 mm) Cushing Burr is ideally suited for use in neurosurgical procedures specifically of the brain. A drill can be used to start a pilot hole which can then be further enlarged via use of a burr. This instrument can be used in procedures such as craniotomies which require access through the bony skull down to the softer brain tissue. Additionally this burr is slightly spherical shaped and is 16.0 mm.
