This instrument is used particularly for atrial valve retraction and is perfectly suited to do so because of its bulb shaped handle for firm handling and angled head piece to allow manipulation while leaving the surgical field accessible. Rib Spreader aluminum Casataneda Rib Spreader is a uniquely designed cardiothoracic instrument ideal for use in pediatric patients. This aluminum spreader has two arms which seamlessly transition into the attached blade structures. The arm and blade design on this instrument give the blades more length than traditionally thus transferring the pressure over a larger surface area and causing less deformity in smaller patients delicate structures. This instrument is available in three sizes: newborn, infant and child.
